Auditions

WAYJO Auditions

The WA Youth Jazz Orchestra offers training in big band jazz and improvised modern music. Auditions are usually held annually late each year for every chair in all three big bands. However, as COVID-19 caused the loss of rehearsal and performance opportunities through most of the year, 2020 band members will continue into 2021This means that WAYJO will not be holding band auditions for 2021.

Instead, WAYJO will be offering a new program to young, aspiring instrumentalist and vocalists, aged 12-18 years and located in Perth during 2021. WAYJO Club is an exciting new opportunity to learn and participate in jazz music with WAYJO in a social and inclusive setting.

Open to all young musicians with a basic understanding of music, there is NO AUDITION PROCESS to take part in WAYJO Club.

2021 WAYJO Club applications open Wednesday 18 November 2020, and close 5.00pm Monday 15 February 2021 – if not filled prior.

* PLEASE NOTE: These are not a paid positions, however some paid opportunities are available for band members with professional level ensembles through private, community & corporate event private bookings.
