Composers

2022 WAYJO Composer in Residence

Open to Australian citizens and permanent residents, the WAYJO Composer and Associate Composer residency programs annually support two emerging composers to develop new works for a large jazz ensemble, offering both generous commission fees and artistic mentorship.

2023 WAYJO Band Auditions

WAYJO offers training in big band jazz and improvised modern music to musicians aged 14-25 (28 if in full-time study) across three big bands.

Registrations open 9.00am, Monday 19 September, and close 5.00pm, Monday 14 November 2022 – only if not filled prior.

* PLEASE NOTE: Band Members do not hold paid positions, however some paid opportunities are available for band members with professional level ensembles through private, community & corporate event private bookings.

Experienced, music reading musicians aged 18 to 35 years during 2022 are invited to apply for this paid 12-month trainee position.
